dive batangas: dive & trek

finally, i got my first dose of artificial air for the year.

i don't know how i survived not diving for the past 4 months but i did. i also just realized that i haven't dived batangas for over a year, i was mostly flying out to dive way down south and had a love affair with puerto galera where i returned for several dives towards the end of last year. it was high time i went underwater and return to batangas.

my weekend was fully-packed - i had photography classes whole day saturday, went to the eheads concert in the evening which finished way past midnight, rushed home to pack my dive gear and was on the road by 4am to drive myself to tagaytay where i was to meet up with my dive buddies - no sleep for the dive addict!

the weekend dive was a homecoming in batangas for me. our dive destination, dive & trek in bauan, batangas.

dive and trek has always been our default dive resort in the bauan side of batangas bay. it boasts of a magnificent house reef teeming with marine life - schools of jack, giant clams, seemingly domesticated fishes that swim toward divers and snorkelers instead of scurrying away. among the 30-something dive sites in batangas, six are found near the shorefront of the resort.

i haven't experienced the 'trek' part of dive & trek but they say its possible to arrange a 45-minute trek in the mountains of san pablo. dive & trek also has the nicest staff, including the famous bogart, d & t's resident beach bum labrador; comfortable accommodations; the yummiest food, their turon for merienda always keep me coming back; and they have a perfect view of batangas' magnificent sunset.

another great thing going for d & t is that its rates are downright cheap. boat rentals for boat dives and equipment rentals are fairly reasonable too. they are the only resort (that i know of) in batangas which offers one day unlimited shore dives for P1500++, and this includes a sumptuous lunch.

whether you're an avid diver or just someone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can never go wrong at dive and trek.
